Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 16, 2026

NilePath is built and run by a small, independent team. This policy explains in plain language what we collect and why. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer specializing in Korean or Ethiopian data protection law, and you should have it reviewed before treating it as a complete legal document.

What we collect

When you create an account: your name and email address.

When you complete onboarding or update your profile: education history, field of study, TOPIK and English proficiency, work experience and skills, and career preferences. There's also an optional field for self-reported visa/work-eligibility status — you can select "Prefer not to say" and skip it entirely. If you do share it, it's provided by you, never independently verified, and used only to personalize your career plan. It is not legal confirmation of your immigration status, and NilePath is not an immigration authority.

Documents you upload (CV, cover letter, transcript, certificates) are stored privately and are only ever visible to you, and to mentors or admins if you use the mentorship feature.

If you link your Telegram account for notifications, we store your Telegram user ID and whichever discipline/location preferences you set for alerts — not your Telegram messages or contacts.

We do not collect payment information — NilePath does not charge for any feature at this time.

How we use it

To generate your career readiness diagnosis and plan, match you with relevant opportunities, send you Telegram or in-app notifications you've opted into, and let mentors/admins support you if you engage with those features. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with employers or third parties without your consent.

Where it's stored

Data is stored with Supabase (Postgres + file storage) and protected by row-level security so that, by default, only you can read your own profile, documents, and application data. Public content — published news posts and opportunities an admin has verified — is intentionally readable by anyone, including visitors who haven't signed up.

Your choices

You can edit or remove most profile information at any time from your account settings. To request full account deletion or a copy of your data, contact us using the details below and we'll handle it directly — this isn't yet a self-serve feature.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects how your data is used, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, try to notify active users directly.
